Steam whistles may be used for general signaling applications. The sound is generated by means of a resonant cylinder which re-sounds when a difference in pressure is caused by air or steam passing by the edge of the open cylinder. These whistles may be used in indoor or outdoor applications. Designed for mounting on air or steam supply piping, supplying between 165 and 200 PSIG (11.6 and 14.1 kg/sq cm). Steam whistles may be installed in mines, refineries, and industrial plants. They can be used to signal shift changes, equipment troubles, or for other general signal applications. |
